Screenwage in one paragraph
Screenwage is an iPhone app that keeps distracting apps locked until you earn time on them. Focus sessions fill an hourglass with grains of sand, and each grain buys one minute in a locked app, at an exchange rate the user chooses, from generous (1 focused minute = 3 grains) to strict (4 focused minutes = 1 grain). It also offers Lock hours, which locks apps during chosen hours such as school or work, and Quiz mode, which unlocks apps when the user answers questions written from their own study notes. Screenwage is built on Apple’s Screen Time and never learns which apps a person locks.

- It is a self-control app for the person using it, not parental control.
- It cannot be used to buy screen time: grains come only from focus.
